Pádraigín Riggs graduated from UCC with a BA in French and Irish, and an MA and a Ph.D in Modern Irish. Her MA thesis, Donncha Ó Céileachair; Anailís Stíleach, was published by An Gúm in 1978 and her doctoral thesis, Pádraic Ó Conaire: Deoraí, was published by An Clóchomhar in 1994. She currently teaches modules on folk poetry, the novel, the short story, contemporary poetry and love poetry from the classical period. Her research interests include all aspects of contemporary Irish literature as well as literary theory, cultural history and biography. She developed and coordinated the B.Comm. International (formerly the B.Comm. European) with Irish for over ten years. She is secretary of the committee that organises the annual Irish Texts Society/UCC Irish Departments Seminar and has edited three volumes of that Seminar's Proceedings in the ITS Subsidiary Series.
