Teaching Activities

Teaching Interests

I currently coordinate GM2013 and GM2015, which are both clinical 15 credit modules for the 2nd year of the Graduate Entry to Medicine programme in UCC. I am Year 2 GEM Coordinator. Previously, I co-ordinated GM1010, Integrated Patient Centred Clinical Science and Practice. This is the 15 credit clinical module for first year graduate entry medical students.

I coordinate CP5500 which is the Preparedness for Professional Practice module for Final Year graduate entry and direct entry medical students. This includes procedural skills, essential intern skills training, and emergency medical training, and is assessed by a combination of an online portfolio, a situational judgement test, and an inter professional prescribing task.

My aim in teaching is to produce doctors who are equipped with the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to begin their medical careers. I have a particular interest in Simulation-Based Teaching and Learning, Patient Safety, Clinical Skills Teaching and Emergency Medicine.

My Masters Thesis explored Self-Directed Learning Readiness in Year One Medical Students.
