  - Normative data on speech rate (i.e., speaking rate and articulation rate) is important for speech-language therapists/pathologists when managing individuals with speech rate problems. Previous studies showed significant difference in speech rate between speakers of American English, British English, Australian English, and New Zealand English. Thus, establishing norms for different dialects is necessary. This study aims to provide normative data on speech rate for Irish English speaking adults, and to investigate possible difference in speech rate between men and women, and between different speech tasks. Findings based on the data collected from 22 male and 22 female speakers will be presented.
