Dr Raegan Murphy joined the School of Applied Psychology in January 2008. She is a registered Psychologist with the PSI and chartered Psychologist and associate fellow with the BPS. She is a member of the Psychological Measurement group and chairs the Research Committee. She manages the Departmental Test Library.

She currently co-ordinates and lectures Individual Differences, Psychometrics and Research Methods and Data Analysis. Her interests are the study of intelligence, the nature of psychological measurement and psychometric assessment.

My area of interest and research is in the domain of intelligence assessment. Included in this is my research into dynamic assessment which up to this point as focused on its use in the South African context. This context has now changed to an Irish one. I conducted the first comprehensive review of dynamic assessment in South Africa and contributed the first meta-analytic results, the latter being a collation of empirical research findings in the domain. In the area of intelligence research, in collaboration with two colleagues, the first South African results for a Flynn effect was introduced. I collaborated on a similar project for South Korean data. The Flynn effect is the rising level of IQ scores across the globe for which there is no current consensus as to its explanation. A paper linking simple reaction time and measured intelligence has indicated that genetic g is declining over time. I have published in the area of neuropsychological test performance, assessment and intelligence.
