Biography:
Louise Crowley is a qualified solicitor and a first class honours graduate of University College Cork (BCL 1996; LLM 1997) where she was awarded the title of College Scholar in the course of her undergraduate studies. Louise was appointed to a college lectureship in UCC in 2000. Her publications include Family Law (Thomson Roundhall 2008), the contribution of chapters to Family Law (Oxford University Press 2008), the Family Law Practitioner (Round Hall 2000) and various articles on marital breakdown, asset distribution and marital agreements in the Child and Family Law Quarterly and the Irish Journal of Family Law. In addition she has published articles on the areas of intellectual property law and financial regulation in the Dublin University Law Journal; Commercial Law Practitioner and the Hibernian Law Journal and regularly presents lectures on the protection of research and innovation through intellectual property law provisions. In 2007 she was appointed by the Minster for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to the Study Group on Pre-Nuptial Agreements. In 2010 Louise successfully completed her PhD thesis at Cardiff Law School. Her research presented a critical analysis of the current Irish approach to the regulation of asset distribution on divorce, incorporating a comparative study of the contrasting approaches in Scotland, California and New Zealand. Louise is the Director of the LLM (Practitioner) and the Certificate in Legal Studies
