IRIS — UCC's Institutional Research Information System

The administration of research activities, including responding to requests for information and generating proposals, is time consuming and repetitive.

IRIS aims to save you time and effort by letting you maintain your own research profile. With a little initial effort, the information enter into IRIS is available for exporting to your wordprocessor, and when published, is available for viewing here and on your department or school website; and you can archive your full papers in CORA, the Cork Open Research Archive.

Cork Open Research Archive (CORA)

  • Archiving your publications in CORA increases your citations. Studies have shown that archiving your research publications can boost your citation rate.
  • It improves the visibility of your research: if your research is available in CORA, it will be easier and quicker to find through different portals such as RIAN, OAISTER, Scientific Commons and search engines like Google.
  • It satisfies your funding requirements: SFI, HEA and IRCSET all say that if a publication arises from work funded by them, a copy must be deposited in an open access repository such as CORA.
  • It preserves your work for the longer term free of worries about software obsolescence.
