Mr. Kelleher qualified as a RGN from The University School of Nursing, Bonn, Germany in 1996 and has since worked on various intensive care units both in Germany and in Ireland. Appointed a Lectureship in the Catherine McAuley School of Nursing & Midwifery UCC in 2003, he currently coordinates the postgraduate diploma in cardiac and intensive care nursing and teaches across the undergraduate general nursing programme. Mr Kelleher is actively involved in research ranging from critical care  nursing to  facilitators and barriers to international nurse mobility.Mr. Kelleher is Director of International Education in the school of Nursing and Midwifery and has spearheaded the development of a new nursing programme, BSc Nursing International with German, which will commence in September 2013. In collaboration with the Department of German, UCC, the University Clinics in Bonn, Germany, and the German Red Cross, the new  programme will see nursing students undertake the theoretical component of their BSc. Nursing in UCC and all clinical components in the University Clinic in Bonn, Germany.   Mr. Kelleher is also a project leader in educational initiatives in countries such as India and Brunei which aim to foster strategic international links within these countries and further enhance  UCC’s involvement on the international stage. As a member of the Latin America Regional Working Group  in UCC and as Chair of the PR committee Mr. Kelleher is heavily involved in student recruitment activities and projects which enhance the promotion of nursing as a career.
Mr. Kelleher is currently a doctoral student and will complete his studies in 2015. 

Research Interests

Over the next 3 years I aim to:

Complete the Doctor of Nursing (DN) programme for which I am currently registered. 
Develop further research links relating to 'International Education and Health Care professionals' 
Participate in international exchange programmes focusing on research collaborations  
Conduct evaluative studies on new international nursing programmes   
Disseminate research findings both nationally and internationally
