I am a Psychology graduate of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland (MA, 1995), and of the Department of Human Communication Science, University College London (PhD, 2001). From 2001 until 2011 I was a lecturer at Department of Human Communication Sciences, University of Sheffield, where I contributed to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly in Speech and Language Therapy. I joined the UCC in January 2011.

My research interests evolve around literacy, especially reading and writing development (seen from the perspective of cognitive psychology), reading and writing instruction, as well as reading and writing difficulties: their mechanisms, assessment and therapy. I am also interested in spoken language development.
