GeneralDescription |
The remains of the cross head has the lower part of a figure. Below this there is a panel which is very difficult to make
out. It has been identified as the Baptism of Christ, New Testament, Matt. 3; Mark 1; Luke 3; John 1:32.
|
GeneralDescription |
This next section of the shaft has three scenes. The first one is the Adoration of the Magi. The Virgin and Child are on the
left and one of the Magi is kneeling on the right, New Testament, Matthew 2. Below this there is a Crucifixion scene. The
four evangelist symbols are around the cross, two above and two below. Underneath these symbols there are two other figures,
identified as Saints John and Mary, New Testament, John 19:27. Below this there is a Nativity scene. The animals are around
the manger.

GeneralDescription |
The lower section has the Transfiguration at the top. Christ is in the centre, and Moses and Elijah are on either side of
him, New Testament, Matt 17; Mark 9:2; Luke 9:29; John 1:14.
