GeneralDescription North Cross Shaft, East view. The cross is dated to the early ninth century.
GeneralDescription This upper section of the shaft has three scenes. The first one is the Adoration of the Magi. The Virgin and Child are on the left and one of the Magi is kneeling on the right, New Testament, Matthew 2.
GeneralDescription Below this there is a Crucifixion scene. The four evangelist symbols are around the cross, two above and two below. Underneath these symbols there are two other figures, identified as Saints John and Mary, New Testament, John 19:27.
GeneralDescription Below this there is a Nativity scene. The animals are around the manger.
