The Boolean

Snapshots of Doctoral Research at University College Cork

University College Cork has over 1000 doctoral students doing research in almost every field of academia. The Boolean is an annual on-line collection of short papers in which these students describe their area of research and some of their main findings.

The objective is to provide a platform for students to share their research with others within and outside the University besides the specialist readers who will learn of it through conventional academic publication routes.

Many of our students work on topics of interest to a huge range of stakeholders, including industry, employers and the general public, and this provides a new way for their research to become known. In addition, students who submit articles gain experience of communicating to a non-specialist audience, while some students are directly involved in the editing and production process.
